Howard Zimmerman

BERNIE -- Howard Houston Zimmerman, 89, died Sept. 20, 2006, in the Malden Nursing Center at Malden.

Born Dec. 14, 1916, at Bernie, son of the late John Ernest and Nora Ethel McGowen Zimmerman, he was a farmer and lifelong resident of Bernie where he attended the Bernie Nazarene Church.

On July 13, 1935, at Bernie, he married Radie Marcelle Vaughn who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Howard Wayne Zimmerman of Bernie and Barry Lee Zimmerman of Dexter; one daughter, Brenda Kay Beaird of Bernie; three brothers, Lloyd Zimmerman of Dexter and Melvin Zimmerman and Harold Zimmerman of Bernie; three sisters, Dimple Miller and Pearl Mickey of Bernie and Geraldine Sturges of Campbell; and seven grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Jean Zimmerman; one brother, Herschel Zimmerman; one sister, Margie Zimmerman; and one grandson.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Don Wells will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
