POPLAR BLUFF - A former Middle School teacher has entered guilty pleas to four counts of statutory sodomy.
Susan Sharp, formerly of New Madrid, entered the pleas Wednesday in Butler County Circuit Court before Judge William Seay. Sentencing for Sharp is set for 3 p.m. Dec. 19.
Sharp, who was a teacher in the New Madrid County R-1 School District until November 2004, was removed from her teaching position after an investigation into her involvement with minors.
According to court docket information, Sharp withdrew her not guilty plea to the four charges on Wednesday. The Missouri Attorney General's office, which was handling the case, has recommended a sentence of seven years in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections on each count with the sentences to run concurrently.
The court ordered the Division of Probation and Parole to make an advisory report, which will be considered at the formal sentencing in December.
