Chamber honors the best in our communities

Monday, April 3, 2006

We are ticking down the minutes to the 56th Annual Awards Banquet to be held Thursday, April 6, at the Sikeston Senior High Field House.

The planning committee has been busy with arrangements for the big night. The theme of this year's banquet is "We're Going for the Gold" and that is exactly what we will be doing. We will be recognizing our best in the Sikeston and Miner communities.

We will be giving out 100 awards this year which include the following: Small Business of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Business of the Year, Civic Group of the Year, SACC Member of the Year, Outstanding Jaycee Service Award, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Educator of the Year, Community Volunteer of the Year and Citizen of the Year.

Last year's winners will be presenting the awards and our master of ceremonies duties will be shared by Mike McReynolds and Steve McPheeters.

Pat and Jon Irions of Trisha's Catering will be handling our meal and the Sikeston High School Orchestra Ensemble will be performing throughout the evening.

Last year over 350 people attended the event and ticket sales are brisk again this year. It looks like it is going to be another big night for celebrating the accomplishments of our community.

If you have not bought your tickets contact the Chamber office immediately to reserve your spot. Tickets are $30 per person or a table of six is $170. Please hurry as seating is limited.

You can contact the Chamber at 573-471-2498 for more information. We look forward to seeing you at the banquet.
