SIKESTON - City Manager Raymert Miller today announced the appointment of a city plumbing inspector. Hugh Garrison has been appointed effective Sept. 1. The position has not been filled in recent years.

SIKESTON - Usherettes for the 14th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo will meet at 7:30 p.m. today on the rodeo grounds to discuss final preparations. More than 50 girls are expected to participate.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council is currently reviewing all applications received for the position of city manager. Mayor Allen Blanton reports that 50 local, out-of-town and out-of state applications were received by the July 31 deadline. Bob Knabel, previous city manager, resigned this summer after accepting the position of city manager in Lewiston, Idaho.
SIKESTON - Eight of Sikeston's talented young athletes were in Columbia at the Missouri Show-Me Games in July, taking home a silver medal for themselves. They were: Justin Robinson, Bryan Ellitt, Reed Masters, Jreece Johnson, Andre Morgan Will Montgomery, Bart Ziegenhorn and B.J. Robinson.

SIKESTON - It was hot and the music was even hotter. John Anderson played to a full house at Wednesday's opening night of the 44th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. Anderson began with some of his new releases before bringing the crowd to their feet with "Just a Swingin'."
