Stoneax Jones
ELLSINORE -- Ronald Jack "Stoneax" Jones Sr., 69, died at 1:25 a.m. in the emergency room of Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Feb. 11, 1937, in Knoxville, Iowa, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones, he was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He had worked for 13 years for Delta Growers in Charleston and was a member and spiritual leader for the Amonsoquath tribe of Cherokee.
On March 27, 1997, in Van Buren, he married Rebecca "Becky" Foster who survives of Vanduser.
Other survivors include: one son, Ronald Jones Jr. of Poplar Bluff; five daughters, Betty Downs of Doniphan, Becky Moody of Quincy, Ill., Mary Ann Ratchford of Ellsinore, Tammy Russell of the state of Missouri and Desert Rose Jones of Vanduser; two half-brothers, Tip Catlett of Ellsinore and Albert Catlett of Greenville; two half-sisters, Dee Dee Rymer of Van Buren and Margaret Parkus of Ellsinore; and several stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
A Cherokee funeral service will be held on Aug. 20 at Medicine Grounds in Ozark County.
