BERTRAND -- George Herbert Majors, 67, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died at 2:
25 a.m. Aug. 18, 2006, at his home.
Born Feb. 3, 1939, in East Prairie, to the late George Herschel and Lera Lara Parker Majors, he was an administrative assistant with International Credit Union in Syracuse, N.Y. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as music minister.
On May 16, 1998, he married Linda K. Sills McAfee who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Randall Herbert Majors of Gresham, Ore., and Richard Anthony Majors of San Francisco; three stepdaughters and two stepsons-in-law, Marcia and Eddie Hickman of Bloomfield and Regina and Terry Lambert and Angela McAfee of Sikeston; one brother, James Alfred Tidwell of Taipai, Taiwan; two sisters, June Majors of East Prairie and Mary Lucille Smith of Tampa, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel Cleve Majors and David Austin Majors; and two sisters, Catherine Marie Majors and Shirley Evelyn Brack.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church, 204 Rogers Street, in Sikeston. The Rev. Paul Swilley, pastor, will officiate assisted by Diane Chappell, Matt Butrum and Dr. Steven Douglas.
Blanchard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
