Joe Groves
CHARLESTON -- Joseph T. "Joe" Groves, 77, died at 4:40 a.m. June 15, 2006, at the Charleston Manor.
Born Oct. 4, 1928, in Caruthersville, son of the late William and Ellie B. Hutson Groves, he had lived most of his life in Mississippi County where he was employed by the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston until his retirement. He was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church.
He married Virginia B. Chappell who preceded him in death in 1958.
He then married Opal Lavay Adams who also preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2001.
Survivors include: five sons, David Groves and Dan Groves of Pueblo, Colo., William J. Groves of Charleston, Ricky Bone of Benton and Mark Bone of Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters, Sharon Adkins and Candy Ann Hickman of Dayton, Tenn., and Nancy Ann Eldridge of Aurora, Colo.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday with Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
