PORTAGEVILLE -- Hershel Roosevelt Travelstead, 78, died April 20, 2006, at his home.
Born May 18, 1927, in Ridgley, Tenn., son of the late Rosa Lee Pyle and Fred Roosevelt Travelstead, he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville. A spray technician, he had retired from Cypress Supply Co. in Portageville.
On April 25, 1949, he married Marjorie Juanita Powell who preceded him in death on May 4, 2000.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Travelstead, and one sister, Christean Brown.
Survivors include: five brothers, Charles Travelstead of Montgomery, Ala., Maynord Travelstead of Sycamore, Ga., E.P. Travelstead of Milan, Tenn., Alfred Travelstead of Tiptonville, Tenn., and Mike Travelstead of Trezevant, Tenn.; and six sisters, Marie Thompson of Portageville, Geraldine Smith of Dickinson, Texas, Peggy Wilbanks of Crockett Mills, Tenn., Louise Johnson of Watervliet, Mich., Linda Pugh of League City, Texas, and Sue King of Dyersburg, Tenn.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the DeLisle Funeral Home where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Ken Jones will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
