Martha Cooper
DEXTER -- Martha Ann Powell Cooper, 75, died July 22, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 4, 1933, in Dudley, daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Lettie Jane Hutchcraft Powell, she had lived in St. Louis for many years and moved to Dexter in 1980. She was of the Pentecostal belief.
On Nov. 6, 1963, in St. Louis, she married Robert Vernon "Coop" Cooper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2002.
Survivors include: five sons, Thomas Ready of Ark City, Kan., Donald Ready of Nashville, Tenn., Charles Powell and Robert Cooper of Dudley and Edward Cooper of New Albany, Ind.; five daughters, Charlotte Diane Turner of Calvert, Ala., Frances Powell of Fisk, Charlotte Mae Kitchen and Carolyn Jordan of Morehouse, Lynn Hunsaker of Dexter; four brothers, James Powell of St. Paul, Minn., Henry Powell of Bernie, Albert Powell of Piedmont and Bill Powell of Fulton; three sisters, Sylvia Rogers and Faye Seeber of Licking and Elizabeth O'Conner of Dexter; and 40 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Joyce Webb; two brothers, Gene and Thomas Powell; and two sisters, Kaye Martin and Cloeatus Upchurch, also preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dudley Cemetery at Dudley.
