SIKESTON - A baseball doubleheader that starts at 1:30 isn't unusual, unless it begins at 1:30 a.m. That's what the time was when Sikeston and New Madrid County hooked up for the first of what turned out to be two championship games in the District 3 Junior Babe Ruth baseball tournament. Three days of rain had backed the tournament up so badly that the all-night session was forced to be held. By the time the dust cleared at 7 this morning, though, Sikeston held the District 5 championship in their hands with a 10-7 win over New Madrid County after they had lost the first game 9-4.
