Scherer-Douglas

SIKESTON -- David and Bevelry Scherer of Bell City have announced the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Jayne Scherer, to Patrick Roy Douglas, son of Jerry and Judy Douglas of East Prairie.

A 1998 graduate of Bell City High School, the future bride is a 2001 graduate of Southeast Arkansas College in Little Rock, Ark. She is employed by Dr. C.W. Boyce in Sikeston. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Mona Scherer of Dexter and Junior and Zoda Dockins of Bell City.

The prospective bridegroom is a 1994 graduate of East Prairie High School, a 1999 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and a 2002 graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law. He is a partner in the law firm of Blanton, Rice, Sidwell, Nickell, Cozean and Collins LLC in Sikeston. He is the grandson of LaWanda Douglas of East Prairie and the late Verlon L. Douglas and Roy and Evelyn Walden of East Prairie.

Plans are under way for a Nov. 8 wedding in Sikeston.
