Davis celebrates 100th birthday

SIKESTON -- Sikeston resident Annise Davis celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends from 5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at the American Legion hall in Sikeston.
Davis was born Aug. 13, 1908, in Lula, Miss., to the late Ben and Roselee Davis. He is a member of Bread of Life church in Parma. He worked 12 years at a steel mill, eight years at Malone Hyde, seven years on the Mississippi River and five years as a Greyhound bus driver. He also was a farmer for 20 years and coached baseball for eight years in Sikeston.
Davis has 29 children, 15 of whom are still living; and over 200 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Ema Davis, preceded him in death.
