SIKESTON - Michael McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester McDonald of Vanduser, observed his second birthday on Aug. 21 with a party at his home.

Aug. 24, 1968

POPLAR BLUFF - Bill Lewis was elected chairman of the 10th Congressional District Democrat Central Committee last night at a meeting of the 22 county Democratic Committee members in Poplar Bluff. Approximately 75 people attended.

SIKESTON - A picture of the increased costs of farming was reflected in the financial report of the Sikeston Production Credit Association presented to the stockholders during the 35th annual meeting at the Sikeston Armory. More than 700 PCA members attended.

Aug. 24, 1988

DEXTER - Dexter's quarterbacks and centers practiced their exchanges during the Bearcat's practice session last night. Area teams are continuing preparations for the 1988 season openers on Sept. 2, including Sikeston's first-ever game against New Madrid County Central. The season will culminate with the Missouri State High School Activities Association Football Championship in late November.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public Library conducts a preschool story program every Wednesday from 10-10:30 a.m. The program is hosted by volunteers from Mercantile Bank who read stories along with craft activities and songs related to the book.

SIKESTON - Welcome to the fall season. For the first time in quite some while (if ever), the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs softball team will play in the fall stage of the two-part high school softball season.
