SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Pierce of St. Louis will observe their golden wedding anniversary Sunday at the home of Rebecca Pierce, a sister of Mrs. Pierce.
PUXICO - The State Bank of Puxico experienced its second robbery in seven months when three bandits, armed with pistols, held up the bank Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. and escaped with $17,000 in currency.

MOREHOUSE - Three new teachers have been added to the staff of Morehouse Elementary School for this fall. They are: Jerry Cox, Sara Crumpecker and Terry Toma.
BERNIE - Bernie residents were without power for about 3 1/2 hours following Saturday night's storm which brought high winds and rain to the area. Winds damaged a utility pole along Highway 25 causing the outage. Throughout the area, power lines and tree limbs were reported down.
SIKESTON - Area dove hunters are preparing for Tuesday's opening day. Shooting skeet Sunday afternoon north of Sikeston are Darrell Weems, Arthur Hobbs and Corey McNew. The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that the numbers of doves in the Bootheel are up.

BENTON - Amy O'Brien has been awarded recognition for academic excellence with a $3,500 scholarship from the SBC Foundation. The daughter of Pat and Sally O'Brien of Benton plans to use her scholarship to attend William Woods University in Fulton.
