JOHNSTON CITY, Tenn. -- Lawrence "Larry" Earl Brown, 59, died Aug. 30, 2008, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. JOHNSTON CITY, Tenn. -- Lawrence "Larry" Earl Brown, 59, died Aug. 30, 2008, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

Born in Waltonville, Ill., to the late Irvin Brown and Irene Foreman, he lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a retired investigator with the Johnson City Police Department, assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He was also a past president of the Tennessee Mississippi Sheriffs and Peace Officer Association. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara; one daughter and son-in-law, Beckee and P.J. Lynch; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Dean and Janie Brown; two brothers; two sisters; one half-brother, Floyd Foreman of Sikeston, Mo.; one half-sister, Evelyn Ross of Sikeston; and six grandchildren and one stepgrandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Nelson; and one brother, Irvin Brown Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until time of services at 7:30 p.m. today at Tetrick Funeral Services. The Rev. Ed Jefferies, the Johnson City Police chaplain, will officiate.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the JCPD honor guard.
