Methamphetmine lab is discovered in home near Crowder

BENTON -- Two men are in the Scott County Jail, following in investigation into a meth lab in the Crowder community.

Christopher Copeland, 40, of Crowder, and Richard Gregory, 36, of Whitewater, are charged with attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, distribution of a controlled substance; possession of chemicals; possession of controlled substance; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond is set at $75,000 each, cash only.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said that Sgt. Brandon Caid and Deputy Brant Pratt were acting on information received from an informant Sunday afternoon when they went to Copeland's Crowder home. While there, the deputies found paraphernalia and controlled substances on Copeland, and after obtaining permission to search the residence, located a working meth lab inside.

The two were arrested and a quantity of pills, controlled substances and paraphernalia, along with the complete lab were seized as well.
