EUGENE - George Newton Hunsaker, 63, died Oct. 13, 2008, at his son's home in Henley.
Born Sept. 25, 1945, at Essex to the late Newton and Anna Kimble Hunsaker, he had lived in Essex and Dexter before moving to Eugene. He had worked for over 20 years as a police officer before being injured in the line of duty. A member of the Fraternal Order of Police and Who's Who in American Law Enforcement, National Association of Chief's of Police, he received the Legion of Honor Award from the American Law Enforcement Officers Association for injuries received in the line of duty.
On Aug. 10, 1963, in Dexter, he married Donna Davis, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: one son and daughter-in-law, Cameron and Angie Hunsaker of Henley; two daughters and son-in-law, Kymberly Hunsaker of Eugene and Karen and Toby Wallace of Gulf Shores, Ala.; four sisters, Virginia Sherfield, Linda Christian, Glenda Fowler and Pansy Hunsaker; four brothers, Alvin, Bill, Gene and Jerry Hunsaker; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Hunsaker, and four brothers, John David, James, Burl and Ralph Hunsaker.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Essex Cemetery in Essex with the Rev. Leonard Madigan of Dexter officiating.
Burial will follow.
