SIKESTON -- Laura Green and Jay Leible of Anderson and Green Insurance Agency in Sikeston recently attended a training session on property/casualty insurance hosted by Barton Mutual Group of Liberal. Attendees received continuing education hours awarded by the Missouri Department of Insurance. Training included instruction on new product offerings, service enhancements and company and industry trends. More than 350 independent agents attended one of the regional meetings throughout the state.
Also during the meeting, Anderson and Green Insurance Agency was recognized for outstanding sales and loss control in 2007 by receiving the Underwriting Excellence Award.
ABILENE, Kan. -- Duckwall-ALCO Stores, Inc., recently announced its sales from continuing operations for the five weeks that ended Oct. 5 -- the fiscal month of September -- increased 6.6 percent to $43.2 million, compared to $40.5 million in the prior-year month. Same-store sales for the same period decreased 5.1 percent with fuel and decreased 5.3 percent without fuel.
Sales year-to-date increased 4.3 percent to $314.4 million, compared to $301.4 million in the prior year and the same-store sales decreased 5.8 percent. Without fuel, same-store sales decreased 6.1 percent year-to-date.
Larry Zigerelli, president and chief executive officer commented, "Improving our sales performance, while continuing to drive down SG&A costs, is our top corporate priority. The September same-store sales decline of 5.1 percent improved from the 11.1 percent decline in August behind the initial impact of an improved merchandising program."

SIKESTON -- There are some new faces at Fashion Bug in Sikeston, and among them are Laurie Romas, manager, and Donna Lowery, sales leader.
Romas, came on board in September and Lowery, began work in early October.
