AFTON -- Mary Alice Burton Henley, 90, formerly of East Prairie, died at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 23, 2008, at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis.
Born Dec. 28, 1917, in Paragould, Ark., to the late Elijah Earl and Jenny Leila Merrick Crecelius, she had lived most of her life in East Prairie where she was a foster parent. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Affton.
She first married William Burton who preceded her in death in 1968. She later married James Rue Henley who preceded in death on Oct. 10, 1970.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Burton; three brothers, Neil Crecelius, Calvin Crecelius and Ray Crecelius; and one grandchild.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Pam Burton of Benton and Ricky Henley and fiance, Celeste, of Walker, La.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ruth and Bill Tallent of Affton and Karen and Jim Baber of Florissant; and 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday with Steve Douglas officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
