Alene Lasters

SIKESTON -- Alene Marie Lasters 86, died at 8:25 p.m. Oct. 22, 2008, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.

Born Feb. 23, 1922, at Center Ridge, Ark., to the late Matthew W. and Syretha Harris Metcalf, she had worked as a nurse's aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center and was a member of Canalou Baptist Church.

On May 3, 1941, at Charter Oak, she married Howard Lasters who preceded her in death.

One son, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janet Lasters of Crittenden, Ky.; one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Richard Rodgers of Sikeston; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Shirley Bewley of Matthews. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Don Slatton, pastor of Little Whitewater Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Matt Lasters, Ferrell Bewley, Jack Arington, Kerry Lasters, Kerry Wayne Lasters and Scott Pobst.
