EAST PRAIRIE -- Kathryn Frances Lemons Webb passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the East Prairie Nursing Center. Mrs. Webb was born on Nov. 20, 1917, in Jonesboro, Ill., and was the daughter of John Edgar and Flora Wilson Lemons. She moved from Illinois to Charleston in 1924 where she lived until 1938, at which time she was married to Joseph Alan Webb and moved to East Prairie. ...

EAST PRAIRIE -- Kathryn Frances Lemons Webb passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

Mrs. Webb was born on Nov. 20, 1917, in Jonesboro, Ill., and was the daughter of John Edgar and Flora Wilson Lemons. She moved from Illinois to Charleston in 1924 where she lived until 1938, at which time she was married to Joseph Alan Webb and moved to East Prairie. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1984. Her youngest son, Sidney T. Webb, passed away on Jan. 7, 2004.

She was a member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church of East Prairie, where she was full-time church organist for 41 years. She was semi-retired from this service in 1979, at which time she began assisting as substitute and choir organist. In April 1988 she was recognized at a special service for 50 years of music in the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church. She taught an adult Bible class at her church for 18 years.

Mrs. Webb was a charter member of the Woman's Improvement Club of East Prairie and was selected their "Woman of the Year" in 1947. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star from 1941 to 1994, serving as Worthy Matron in 1952 and as organist for many years.

She was associated with her late husband in the general insurance business for 23 years, retiring in 1980 when the business was sold.

She is survived by one daughter, Martha Beard and son-in-law, David Beard, of Newbern, Tenn.; one son, Daniel A. Webb, and daughter-in-law, Judith Webb, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and daughter-in-law, Carol Webb, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 25 with a memorial service to be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church. Dan Usher will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
