SIKESTON - The Sikeston Bulldogs got off to a slow start Friday night but started rolling the last minutes of the first quarter. The football boys rolled over the East Prairie Eagles, 46-13.

Oct. 24, 1968

SIKESTON - Students from 12 area high schools participated in "Mock Congresses" to elect a president and vice president of the United States Tuesday at Sikeston High School. The seven congresses used the presumption that no candidate had received a majority of the electoral votes. Four congresses were deadlocked, while three congresses elected Richard Nixon as president.

SIKESTON - The United Fund Board of Directors will solicit all day to reach their $42, 000 goal, according to Chairman Pat Lea.

Oct. 24, 1988

SIKESTON - Morehouse farmer Dan Jennings was at Sikeston Memorial Airport on Tuesday to speak in support of the agricultural policies of 8th District Rep. Bill Emerson (R-Cape Girardeau). Also on hand were Sens. Kit Bond (R-Missouri) and former Farm Bureau President Dick Johnson.

SIKESTON - Clay Driskill and Jenny Keller were crowned Little Mr. and Miss Harvestfest during the Hunter Acres Caring Center's second annual Harvest Oct. 10. Proceeds from the day's bake sale will go toward the residents' Christmas fund.

SIKESTON - Christy Priday and Lela Inman were selected in the fifth edition of Who's Who Among America's Teacher for 1998. Priday is a fourth grade teacher and Inman is a fifth grade teacher for Lee Hunter Elementary School.

NEW MADRID - Summer Riley and Danny Coppage were chosen as Students of the Month at New Madrid County Central Middle School.
