Man is stabbed outside of Oran bar

ORAN -- An Oran man is recovering today from a stab wound he received Thursday night at a Scott County bar.

According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, two Oran men got into an altercation late Thursday at Kelsey's Tavern, located on State Highway 77, just outside Oran city limits.

"They went outside. The victim came staggering back inside, and said he'd been stabbed," Walter said. "The suspect was in the area for a few minutes and took off on foot. At that time, we thought maybe somebody picked him up and gave him a ride."

Officers have interviewed witnesses who also gave statements Thursday night, Walter said.

As of 2 a.m. today, the victim, who was stabbed at least twice, was still in surgery, Walter said.

"We do know who the suspect is and will probably be seeking warrants (for his arrest) today," Walter said.

Walter said names of the victim and suspect are not being released pending the issuance of warrants.
