EAST PRAIRIE -- James Benjamin "Buck" Williams, 84, died at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23, 2008, at his home. Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Belgreen, Ala., to the late Dudley and Jennie LeMay Williams, he was a retired machinist for TWA and had lived in East Prairie for the last 16 years after moving from Franklin County, Ala., where he was a member of the James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Belgreen...

EAST PRAIRIE -- James Benjamin "Buck" Williams, 84, died at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23, 2008, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1924, in Belgreen, Ala., to the late Dudley and Jennie LeMay Williams, he was a retired machinist for TWA and had lived in East Prairie for the last 16 years after moving from Franklin County, Ala., where he was a member of the James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Belgreen.

On Jan. 14, 1944, at Belgreen, he married Ament "Lewey" Williams who preceded him in death on March 18, 1982. On Nov. 14, 1983, at New Madrid, he married Betty Moore Williams who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Charlotte and Bruce Heuszel of Kearney and Judy Williams of Belgreen; one stepson, Robert Jackson of Poplar Bluff; two stepdaughters, Pat Redfering and Teresa Lyons of East Prairie; and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Jimmy Wayne Williams and Daniel Dwayne Williams, preceded him in death.

Services are scheduled Monday at the Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay, Ala. Burial will follow in the Dempsey Cemetery.
