NEW MADRID -- Donette Clark is the new director of the Alzheimer's Care Unit at Golden Living Center-New Madrid.
Clark has 15 years of experience as a caregiver and has worked with the Golden Living Center for the past seven years. She recently completed extensive training to focus on Alzheimer's disease and programs designed to enhance quality of life for residents with cognitive impairments.
Although Clark has earned her certification and license as a qualified Alzheimer's Care director, it also takes someone with compassion, patience kindness and consideration for the position, according to the news release. "Donette has all these qualities, and is looking forward to these challenges, application of new techniques and accomplishments of working with special-needs individuals," it said.
Clark is the wife of Billy Clark. The couple have three adult children, Tabitha, Kasi and Rusty. A Lilbourn native, Clark has lived in New Madrid for the past 26 years.
Golden Living Center-New Madrid offers ongoing education to its associates, striving to stay informed of new techniques, medications, studies and programs designed to focus on Alzheimer's.
The third Monday of each month, there is an Alzheimer's Family Support Group meeting at 6 p.m. Those who attend share information and learn for one another, and guest speakers communicate progress on new techniques and answer questions.
Anyone in the community with concerns about the effects of Alzheimer's of benefits of the specialized ACU are encouraged to attend. All are also urged to come out and meet Clark to see why the Golden Living Center is excited to have her on the team.
