GIDEON -- William Joseph James, 78, died Nov. 18, 2008, at the Gideon Care Center.
Born Jan. 11, 1930, in Flint, Mich., to the late Elmer and Atlas McNeal James, he retired from Mississippi Glass in Granite City, Ill., in 1968. In 1975, he moved to Bloomfield.
On June 11, 1949, he married Mary Juanita Terry.
Other survivors include: one son, Bill James of Houston; three daughters, Wanda Gregory of Highland, Ill., Sherry McCollom of Bloomfield and Kim Hayes of Malden; four brothers, Cecil James of Granite City, Johnny James of Saucier, Miss., Ray James of Bald Knob, Ark., and Don James of Clarkston, Mich.; and eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Bertie Mae Oliver.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Cleo Payne will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
