SIKESTON - Virginia "Gin" Learue, 81, surrounded by family and friends went home to meet her Lord on Jan. 2, 2009.
She was born June 28, 1927, in the Bridges Community near Charleston to the late Ulus and Stella McKinley Harper. She worked at Brown Shoe Company in Charleston and Learue and McKinnie's Big Star in Miner. She was a lifelong member of Bement Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years before failing health.
On June 26, 1945, in Benton, she married Onis Learue, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1998.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Terri Learue of Sikeston; three grandchildren, Lance Learue of Cape Girardeau, Tim Learue of Fort Smith, Ark., and Teresa Sailors of Sikeston; two great-grandchildren, Lydia Learue of Cape Girardeau and Matthew Sailors of Sikeston; five sisters, Anita McKinnie of Sikeston and Joan Bacchus, Gerldine White, Janet Hatley and Betty Holland of Bertrand; and one brother, Don Harper of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Learue.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Delbert Bishop, pastor of the Bement Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
