DEXTER -- William "Bill" Mangum, 79, died Jan. 2, 2009, at his home.

Born Jan. 29, 1929, at Blytheville, Ark., to the late Roscoe Conklin and Francis Louise Burton Mangum, he had lived in Stoddard County since 1957. He was retired as a street superintendent for the city of Bloomfield and was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church and the Bloomfield Saddle Club.

On Nov. 16, 1946, at Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Asalee Creasy who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Michael William Mangum of Dexter; three daughters, Judy Ann Froemel of Hayward, Wis., Rose Conner of Gore Springs, Miss., and Angela Kay Wood of Bloomfield; one sister, Reba Vernon of Ash Flat, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday. Dean Williams of Dexter will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
