Communities get grant funding
WASHINGTON - Federal grants will help fund improvements in fire and law enforcement for several area communities.
U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Community Facilities program is providing a total of $2,168,151 in federal grant and loan funding to 28 Missouri projects through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Rural Development funding initiative works to improve the economy and quality of life in rural communities by providing government loans and grants.
Local recipients include the city of East Prairie, which received $17,250 grant for two vehicles; a $15,000 grant to help purchase a service truck; and a $12,408 grant for a seal coating machine.
