Wednesday, August 5, 2009
MINER -- Voters in Miner nixed a bond issue in a Tuesday election.
There were 83 no votes and 54 yes votes for the issue, a $2.5 million revenue bond proposal for sewer and water improvements, according to unofficial results provided by Scott County Clerk Rita Milam.
The bond issue was to raise money to enable the city to comply with new U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Missouri Department of Natural Resources requirements. The upgrades are required by the Clean Water Act.
