BURLINGTON, Iowa -- The Sikeston 13-year-old All-Stars put it all together when it mattered Wednesday, defeating Minnesota 12-2 in the Midwest Plains Regional championship game sending them to the World Series in the process.

After cruising to the championship game, Sikeston fell to the Minnetonka-based Minnesota squad 8-2 on Tuesday, forcing an "all-or-nothing" game on Wednesday.

"We had a long talk in the dugout after that game, and they came here (Wednesday) with a good attitude," Sikeston manager Phil Black told the Burlington, Iowa, newspaper, The Hawk Eye, after Wednesday's game. "Minnesota has a really strong team. They were probably the team to beat coming in here."
