Volunteers load meats into a van Monday morning as part of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign. This year, the drive, which delivers food and toy baskets to families in need, helped 221 families, delivering 9,700 pounds of food and 1,332 toys, helping a total of 422 children, said organizer David McDermott. There was an emphasis on families in Scott and Mississippi counties, but the effort also stretches into other areas of Southeast Missouri. More than 50 volunteers, including law enforcement, helped deliver the baskets on Monday, and other volunteers helped beforehand.
