SIKESTON -- Staying warm is one part of keeping the body healthy during cold weather. Maintaining skin moisture is another.

Dr. Sarah Curry, who specializes in family medicine at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, said this time of year she sees many patients who have dry skin issues, such as eczema, psoriasis and other chronic skin disorders.

"The air is so dry, and there's low humidity this time of year. People are mainly indoors, and when they do go out, it's dry and windy and irritating for the skin," Curry said.
