Cub Scout Day Camp kicked off Thursday at the Sikeston Elks Lodge. The Camp brings Cub Scouts from across Southeast Missouri to learn skills and get to know one another. As soon as the Scouts arrived at the Elks Lodge they were busy with activities, including stacking (and eating) bits of cereal to see who could have the most levels. (Jill Bock, Staff)

For the 45 Cub Scouts, Day Camp is all about fun.

For the Cub Scout Day Camp organizers and leaders, the three-day camp, which continues through Saturday, is about much more. The Scouts will participate in crafts, nature and sports activities.

With these activities, the Scouts will expand their skills and learn about Scouting, said Bill Bailey, program director.

"We teach them the Cub Scout core values - to be trustworthy, helpful, kind, courteous and obedient," he said.
