Woman robbed at ATM

SIKESTON - An armed robbery that occurred early Saturday morning is under investigation by the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a 38-year-old Sikeston woman reported being robbed at gunpoint while at the Montgomery Bank ATM, located near Malone Avenue and East Street. According to Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with DPS, the woman had just retrieved an undisclosed amount of money from the ATM when she was approached by a black male with a handgun. The man reportedly pointed the weapon at her and demanded the cash. The victim handed over the money and the suspect ran south from the area.
