SIKESTON -- Contestants taking part in Thursday night's leg of the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo were left with less than ideal conditions to compete in as afternoon thunderstorms had turned the arena floor into thick mud.

Though the conditions led to generally higher times and lower scores compared to the previous night, the competition was no less fierce.

Bareback riding once again kicked off the evening's events with Bee Jay Scott's 86 giving him first place on the night.

Bo Casper finished second with an 81 followed by Tanner Aus with a 73 taking third.

In the steer wrestling competition, Johnny Asher took first with a time of 5.9 seconds with Cody Harmon coming in at 6 seconds, good for second. Hunter Cure rounded out the top three with a time of 6.2 seconds.

Jacob Crawley's score of 84 in the saddle bronc distances himself from the nearest challenger as Weston Ireland came in second with a 79 followed by Seth Glause in third with a 72.

Of the 10 tie-down ropers competing on the night, only two were able to post times as Blair Burk edged out Justin Maass with a time of 9.7 seconds to 9.8 for Maass.

The duo of Matt McKinney and Amos Kueffer ran away in the team roping event as their time of 7.2 seconds easily outpaced second-placed finisher's Justin Davis and Cole Davison's time of 17.5 seconds.

In barrel racing it was Lorie Manning winning the night with a time of 17.12 seconds with New Madrid native Patty White coming in a close second at 17.40 seconds.

The lone event to beat a high score from last night was bull riding as Seth Glause came away with an impressive score of 90, compared to last night's top ride coming in at a 81.

Kenin Asay's ride of 85 was good for second while Clayton Williams scored a 82, which was good for third.
