HILLSBORO -- The Sikeston Bulldogs shut out the Festus Tigers on Tuesday night in their first pool play game at the Hillsboro Invitational tournament. After adjustments needed making to start the second half, the Bulldogs broke the scoreless tie in a big way. HILLSBORO -- The Sikeston Bulldogs shut out the Festus Tigers on Tuesday night in their first pool play game at the Hillsboro Invitational tournament.

After adjustments needed making to start the second half, the Bulldogs broke the scoreless tie in a big way. Evan Underwood and Grant Hinton each scored two goals with assists from Clayton Kinder, Tyler Neal, Hunter Williams and Chase Baron.

"It was good for us to come out and play well," Sikeston head coach Doyle Noe said. "Especially after last weekend at Heath."

Sikeston will play Perryville tonight and St. Francis Borgia on Thursday to round out their pool.

SOFTBALL

Chaffee 13, Delta 11

DELTA -- The Chaffee Lady Devils improved to 3-12 with a 13-11 win over Delta on Tuesday afternoon.

The two teams combined for 33 hits as Adrienne Eichhorn went 4 for 4 for Chaffee while Hannah

Bedwell and Taylor Fodge each were 3 for 4.

Delta was led by Samantha Bartels, Rachel Bartels and Rachel Birkman who all had three hits apiece.

Montana Estes picked up the win for Chaffee to improve her record to 3-6 while Myra Henson took the loss for Delta (3-12).

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Cape Central 2, NMCC 0

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles dropped a home match to Cape Central in two sets on Tuesday night.

NMCC dropped a close 25-19 set to open the night and then fell 25-7 in the second set.

NMCC falls to 3-7-2 and will play in the Gideon Tournament on Thursday.
