Bell City too much for Dexter in volleyball action

HILLSBORO -- The Sikeston Bulldogs were defeated 3-0 by St. Francis Borgia on Thursday night in their final game of pool play at the Hillsboro Invitational.

"They had an early goal but after that both teams kind of settled in," Sikeston head coach Doyle Noe said. "(Borgia) capitalized on a few chances towards the end."

The Bulldogs (5-8) will play for fifth place on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Maplewood-Richmond Heights. But first, Sikeston has a regular season game at Anna-Jonesboro today.

VOLLEYBALL

Bell City 3, Dexter 0

BELL CITY -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats lost 3-0 to the Bell City Lady Cubs on Thursday evening losing 25-13, 25-14 and 25-17 in three sets.

Brittany Harris led the Lady Bearcats with six kills and three blocks. Lauren Ward added four assists while Elisha Flanigan added two aces.

Dexter will be traveling to Arkansas State University to take part in the ASU Volleyball tournament over the weekend.

JR. HIGH FOOTBALL

POPLAR BLUFF -- The Sikeston seventh grade defeated Poplar Bluff 20-0 while the eight grade downed the Mules 26-6.
