DEXTER -- Two police officers were injured and a suspect is in custody following a vehicle pursuit in Dexter early Saturday morning.
At 12:58 a.m., a Dexter Patrol officer attempted to stop a pickup truck for a city ordinance violation, according to a news release from the Dexter Police Department. The driver failed to yield, and a pursuit initiated.
"During the course of the pursuit, the suspect struck two Dexter patrol cars, causing substantial damage to both cars," the news release stated.
The suspect was eventually forced off the roadway by another Dexter officer. But the pursuit didn't stop there, as the driver fled from the scene on foot. The suspect was apprehended a short time later.
The two officers involved in the pursuit, as well as the suspect, were all transported to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter where they were treated for minor injuries and later released.
As of press time, the driver was in custody. The name is being withheld pending the filing of formal charges by the Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
