CARUTHERSVILLE -- A Caruthersville man and a Steele man have been charged in separate copper theft incidents in Pemiscot Counties.
Jason Potts, 21, of Steele and Ernest Davis, 21, of Caruthersville are charged with felony stealing of copper wiring from two Pemiscot County farms.
Potts was arrested Thursday morning after deputies were called to Campbell Farms, located outside of Cooter, where a copper wiring theft was reported, according to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell. An employee with Campbell Farms observed a vehicle and man in a field just behind the northbound rest area of Interstate 55. The employee detained the man until deputies arrived on scene. While waiting, the employee observed a weapon in the truck. He then grabbed and disarmed it for safety reasons, the sheriff said.
