Stevenson to sign with Brooklyn jr. college

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- One of the highest profile recruits in southeast Missouri has decided to continue his football career in New York.

G'Darius Stevenson, a 6-0, 195 pound running back, has decided to play football for ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y.

ASA is a junior college in Brooklyn. The football program is going into its third season as a program competing at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) level and their second season in the Northeast Football Conference. This past season, the team finished with a 7-3 overall record. So far, seven players have signed with NCAA Division I-A schools and four others to NCAA Division I-AA institutions.

In his senior season, Stevenson rushed for 1,596 yards and 26 touchdowns and also threw for 607 yards and 7 touchdowns. The senior accounted for a total of 2,203 yards, 35 touchdowns and scored 229 points alone.

For his career, Stevenson rushed for 5,263 yards while scoring 76 touchdowns on the ground. He also threw for 1,357 yards and 20 touchdowns in his career while earning the SEMO Conference scoring title three times as well as numerous postseason awards including all-state three times.

Stevenson was recruited by several Division I schools as well, including the University of Mississippi.
