WARDELL -- The Risco Tigers needed overtime to do it, but they avenged an earlier season loss to the Clarkton Reindeer in a thrilling 71-69 win on Thursday during the semifinals of the Tri-County Conference Tournament at North Pemiscot High School.

Risco found themselves down by five after the first quarter, 20-15, but outscored the Reindeer 34-28 throughout the next two quarters.

Clarkton tied the game late in the fourth quarter as Risco had a chance to end it in regulation but could not get a shot off as time expired signaling overtime.

The Tigers jumped out to a four-point lead in the extra quarter until a turnover led to the Reindeer slicing their advantage in half. Clarkton took 69-68 lead after a 3-pointer by Julian Nolen with less than a minute left.

Sophomore Austin White was fouled on Risco's next possession and hit the first of a one and one opportunity but missed the second. Risco's Luke Bixler came up with a steal shortly after and was sent to the free throw line.

Bixler drained both shots to give the Tigers the win and seal a spot in the conference title game.

"We were there last year and we wanted to get back," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said. "This was a big win for us."

Risco (15-6) will face North Pemiscot in a rematch of last years conference championship game after the Mustangs defeated Holcomb, 62-45, on Thursday night as well.
