Lent period begins on Wednesday

SIKESTON -- On Wednesday, Christians around the world will enter into a 40-day period of fasting and sacrifice known as Lent.

And local pastors said they'll preach that message too, encouraging individuals to reflect on their lives and relationship with God during the season.
