MALDEN -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles totaled 10 hits in their 13-2 drubbing over the Malden Green Wave in five innings on Friday during the Malden Invitational Tournament in Malden. Denton Daughtry led the Eagles with two hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Sam Barnett and Gabe Smith also had two hits as well. MALDEN -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles totaled 10 hits in their 13-2 drubbing over the Malden Green Wave in five innings on Friday during the Malden Invitational Tournament in Malden.

Denton Daughtry led the Eagles with two hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Sam Barnett and Gabe Smith also had two hits as well. Smith and Jayshawn McDaniel also clubbed home runs in the game.

NMCC's Kyle Harris picked up the win pitching all five innings. He gave up two runs on four hits and one walk. Harris also struck out six and threw 57 total pitches.

Scheduled to play two games in the nine-team, round-robin format on Friday, NMCC only managed to get in one game due to inclement weather. The Eagles were down 4-2 in the second inning to Greenville when their second game was called.

Oran 16, Holcomb 0

MALDEN -- Behind 12 hits the Oran Eagles blistered the Holcomb Hornets on Friday, 16-0, during the Malden Invitational Tournament.

Oran's Kody Moore led the attack going 3 for 3 at the plate. Tyler Heuring and Dylan Dannenmueller each had two hits as well. Nolan Urhahn added three RBI.

Oran pounced on the Hornets from the start scoring 11 runs in the first inning.

Seth Ressel picked up the win pitching two innings and striking out one. Both Ressel and Chance Tenkhoff, who pitched the last three innings, allowed just one hit each.

This game was also halted because of inclement weather but was able to resume following the storm.

Oran 13, Neelyville 1

MALDEN -- Oran was able to work in a second game despite the uneventful weather beating Neelyville 13-1 in six innings.

Kody Moore got the win on the mound going five innings and allowing one run on three hits. Moore also struck out seven.

Moore also led the Eagles at the plate going 4 for 4 with four RBI including a double. Dalton Elfrink added two hits, one being a home run, and four RBI as well.

Oran, who moved to 9-0 on the season, pounded eight hits throughout the six innings.

The Eagles resumed tournament play on Saturday playing Portageville and Malden. Results from those games will be in Monday's edition of the Standard Democrat.
