STEELE -- The Sikeston Bulldogs surrounded two runs in the bottom of the seventh and lost a road game to the South Pemiscot Bulldogs 3-2 on Friday afternoon.

South Pemiscot, coached by former Sikeston standout Ben Nelson, trailed 2-1 entering the final frame before putting together their final rally. After loading the bases off Sikeston starter Drew Harper, Trey Tigart came in with one out to try to put out the fire.

Instead, South Pemiscot leadoff batter Logan Carter drew a walk, scoring Harley Grimes to tie the game. The next batter, Austin Wagner, laced a liner down the left field line for his third hit of the day to score Kevin Crouch, who had singled earlier in the inning, giving South Pemiscot the win.

Wagner scored South Pemiscot's first run of the day in the third inning when he crossed the plate on a double by Ryan Nolen.

Sikeston, who scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, were led at the plate by Ross Bohannon who was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double. Cord Sheehy and Evan Underwood each singled with Underwood and Luke Keefer scoring the Bulldog runs.

Harper took the loss for Sikeston, despite pitching well. The sophomore was tagged with three runs, all earned, on four hits while walking two, hitting two and striking out 10.

Jordan Carter earned the win for South Pemiscot (8-7), holding Sikeston to only four hits in seven innings while allowing only one earned run. Carter walked three and struck out eight.

Sikeston (10-5) was back in action on Saturday when they traveled to Poplar Bluff to take on the Mules in the fifth place game of the SEMO Conference Tournament. Results can be found in Monday's edition of the Standard Democrat.
