CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Opening their season against the Missouri Bulls on Tuesday the Charleston Fighting Squirrels lost both games of a double header 9-6 and 10-2.
Both Seth Childers and Danny McKinney had a pair of hits for the Squirrels in the first contest as Charleston scored four run in the final three inning, but were unable to keep up with the Bulls offense.
Taking the loss, Dalton Woodard pitched four innings in the contest.
In the second game, Charleston trailed Missouri by a run at 3-2 heading into the bottom of the third. It was there, however, that the Bulls put another five runs on the board, followed by a two-run fourth frame to build a comfortable lead.
The Squirrels now stand at 0-2 on the season and will travel to Cape Girardeau to play their Legion team tonight at 7 p.m.
