ORAN -- Led by a pair of home runs from Jared Walker, including the game-winner, the Chaffee Squids overcame an early six-run deficit to beat the Oran Eagles 13-11 on Tuesday in a nine inning contest.
Down 11-5 in the seventh inning, Chaffee put up five runs in the frame to close to within a run of Oran. Walker then blasted a two-run home run in the eighth to give his team a 12-11 lead before the Squids put up an insurance run in the ninth to make up the final.
For Chaffee, Walker and Trevor Cannon each had four hits on the night while Cody Payne went 3 for 3 on the night, all singles.
Oran's Bear Hicks took the loss on the mound but had a hot night at the plate going 3 for 3 with a pair of home runs. Kody Moore also contributed a home run to the Eagles' cause.
Chaffee now stands at 16-1 on the season and will travel to Charleston to play the Woodpeckers Friday at 6 p.m.
