Hearing waived in assault

NEW MADRID - A man charged in the assault of his then one-month-old son decided to forego a preliminary hearing.

Ricky Garza, 19, of Canalou waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Division II of New Madrid County Circuit Court. He was ordered bound over to Division I for trial with his next appearance in court scheduled for Sept. 13.
