HARDIN, Ken. -- The Bootheel BassBusters held their fifth tournament of the year, a dusk and dawn tournament on Saturday evening and Sunday morning on July 30-31.
The launch site was KenLake Marina on Kentucky Lake.
Jerry Dement won the tournament with nine bass over the two days weighing 20 pounds, six ounces. John Wilson was second with six bass weighing 13 pounds, 14 ounces, and Stan Pace was third with six bass weighing 13 pounds, one ounce.
Cory Fitzgerald took Big Bass honors with a largemouth weighing five pounds and Travis Garrett won the "Lucky Drawing."
The weather was windy and warm on Saturday evening and stayed calm and hot on Sunday morning for the contestants.
The top finishers reported catching their fish on shaky heads, big worms, lipless crankbaits and topwaters in a variety of patterns and water depths.
Jerry Dement moved into the lead in the Angler-of-the-Year race with 1,139 points. Ty Garrett is second with 955 points and John Wilson is third with 924 points.
The club travels back to Kentucky Lake for their sixth tournament of the year, another dusk and dawn event, on Saturday and Sunday, August 20-21 out of KenLake Marina.

Camaraderie and competition are the hallmarks of the BassBusters and new members are always welcome. Annual dues are $25 and owning a boat is not required for membership.
