First novel combines drag racing, life lessons

SIKESTON -- Carol Werneck Carter couldn't help but become intrigued when she first learned of junior drag racing.

The need to learn more about the sport was simply due to the her journalistic nature, but the idea to write junior drag racing's first and only children's novel was something the Sikeston native didn't see coming.
